YOUTH – Drew 1-1: A good effort from the youthies to now be four games undefeated. Youth grade were unlucky not to go ahead early. Thomas Langfield and Anismis Bakini both had great games and were dominating.

Tom Burke was also great going forward and was dangerous every time he got the ball. Unfortunately they went down 0-1 early. A great volley goal from Thomas Langfield levelled it at 1-1 with 10 minutes to go. Some last ditch defending and wayward finishing from Kiama kept it even and it finished 1-1. The Youthies are in 8th spot on ladder and the games in hand will be vital to determine how their season shapes up.
RESERVE GRADE – Drew 2-2: Reserve grade was looking for a win and looked good moving the ball around the big Kiama park. The boys scored first but Kiama equalised in the second half. Just after the restart Vando pressed high with the ball and ran around the Kiama keeper to score and make it 2-1.

Kiama pushed forward and looked dangerous. One of their players was clipped in the box and despite keeping his feet the penalty was called and scored by ex-UOWFC player Tim Cole for his second of the match. 2-2. Scotty Parker slid in for a relatively simple tackle along the right hand touch line chasing the Kiama winger. To the surprise of all in the ground the referee gave him a straight red card for apparently violent conduct however it was a clear yellow which would have seen him off for a 2nd offence anyway. Despite this Ressies had their chances to win it with both Luke Vandenburg, Ricky Martinez and Nicholas Ridley having good chances to steal it but couldn’t find the back of the net. So another draw that could have been a win and Reserve grade stay in 9th spot and four points behind a team they beat 5-0!
FIRST GRADE – Won 3-2: First grade had a big game against Kiama who were close behind on the table and looking to make amends for UOWFC knocking them out of the finals in 2013.

The boys went down 0-1 in the first half to a reasonable Kiama finish from inside the box. UOWFC equalised soon after from a good header to Marc lee to make it 1-1. Lochlan Ryan was through on goal and easily rounded the keeper in a one-on-one. However the Kiama keeper brought Lochlan down as he ran past about to score and was given his matching orders with a straight red car. Club Captain Scott Muilvyk calmly slotted the equiliser to put UOWFC ahead 2-1. Kiama refused to believe that it was the correct decision (despite the photographic evidence to the contrary!) and constantly questioned the referee’s decisions from this point on.
UOWFC pushed on and Marc lee scored another header in the second half from a great Liam Engel free kick to make it 3-1. Kiama clawed one back with a well taken loopy chip over goal keeper Liam Stevenson much to his disappointment. However UOWFC held on and dominated possession in the final 10 minutes to win.

The aftermath was slightly ugly as a currently suspended Kiama player hurled abuse at the match officials as they walked from the ground and it will be interesting to see what action Football South Coast take against this. So first grade are into 8th spot with a massive six point weekend now coming up with a double header against Coniston (12th place) and Thirroul (6th place).
